How to Setup Sherpa via Bluetooth App

Sherpa is Cat M1 & NB-IoT Pet tracker, For the first time to use, you have to use the Bluetooth App to program the unit, This tutorial will demonstrate how to program the Sherpa via Bluetooth App. Sherpa is a Cat M1 and NB-IoT pet tracker. To use it for the first time, you need to program the unit using the Bluetooth App. This tutorial will demonstrate how to program the Sherpa via the Bluetooth App.

Ready

  • Please charge the device for at least 30 minutes using the USB charging cable.
  • After charging, please disconnect one side of the USB charging cable and keep the other side connected, as shown in the following image.
  • Press the button on the charging cable for 3 seconds to power on the device.

1. If you press the power button and no light appears, please charge the device for at least 30 minutes
2. The power button is located on the USB cable connected to one end of the Sherpa.

Download Bluetooth App

  • Please search for “nRF Connect for Mobile” on Google Play or the iOS store to download and install the app on your phone
APP

Connect to Sherpa

  • Enable the Bluetooth on your Phone
  • Enable the location on your Phone
  • Open the App “nRF Connect for Mobile” on your Phone
  • Click “SCANNER” and select Sherpa to CONNECT
Connect Sherpa
  • CLIENT->Nordic UART Service
  • TX Characteristic ->Click the icon
  • RX Characteristic ->Click the icon

Send Commands to Tracker

Setup IP

  • The command format is “#ip+ip”
  • For example, if your IP is 113.98.254.180, the command is #ip113.98.254.180
  • Input the IP commands and click “SEND”.

Setup Port

  • The command format is “#pt+port”
  • For example, if your port is 7700, the command is #pt7700
  • Input the port commands and click “SEND”.

  • Swipe the phone screen to the LEFT until show the following interface.

Lock the Network

Input the following commands to set the network

#NB_MODE:0 E  (CAT M1)
#NB_MODE:1 E  (NB-IoT)

Lock the Bands

Input the following command to Lock the bands.

#BAND:8,20 E (B8,B20)

Setup APN

Input the following command to setup APN

#APN:nbiot E  (if apn is internet the command is #APN:internet E)

Setup Postioning Mode

Input the following commands to change the working mode

#l:g     (GPS only)
#l:w     (WiFi only)
#l:gw    (GPS>WiFi)
#l:wg    (WiFi>GPS)

How to Get SIM ICCID

Send the Letter ‘O” to Sherpa can get the SIM Card’s ICCID (or see following video)

FAQ

I can’t connect to the nRF Connect App.
Try to reboot the Sherpa and then check if enable Bluetooth on your phone.
How to restart my device?
Connect to the USB Charger and press the button for 10 seconds to power off until led off, then press the button for 3 seconds to power ON.
How to find my firmware version?
Connect the Sherpa on nRF Connect App and it will show the device version, such as “SHERPA.V02_xxx”.
How to check my device’s IMEI number?
The device will report the device IMEI to the server.
Why does it not report data to my server?
Please make sure the Sherpa is wake-up (if it stops for a long time it will go to sleep) when you test.
How to Power Off the device?
Connect to the USB Charger and press the button for 10 seconds to power off until led off.
How to Power ON the device?
Connect to the USB Charger and press the button for 3 seconds to power ON.
